COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This Course focuses on integrating gender and social inclusion into development and governance processes in Nigeria. Participants will analyze the root causes of exclusion and inequality and explore interventions to empower marginalized groups, particularly women and persons with disabilities. Gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) principles, perspectives, and behaviours are examined in this course. It looks at the systemic obstacles that support exclusion and inequality while simultaneously emphasising methods for promoting inclusive government and development. In order to advance gender equity and inclusion across a range of industries, participants will critically interact with case studies, policy frameworks, and advocacy tactics.
After completing this course, participants will be able to:
i. Define and critically analyze the concepts of gender and social inclusion.
ii. List the systemic factors contributing to exclusion and inequality.
iii. Examine global and local policies addressing gender and social inclusion issues.
iv. Evaluate approaches to advancing inclusion in development, governance, and
social systems.
v. Propose actionable solutions to real-world challenges in gender and inclusion.
